The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has killed over 20 terrorists in airstrikes targeting notorious bandit hideouts in Unguwar Goga Hill-Forest, Faskari Local Government Area of Katsina State.
Group Captain Kabiru Ali, NAF’s Deputy Director of Public Relations and Information, announced the operation in a statement on Saturday.
Ali said the airstrikes, conducted early Thursday, were based on actionable intelligence. The strikes destroyed fortified camps linked to bandit leaders Gero (Alhaji) and Alhaji Riga, resulting in over 20 fatalities with more casualties reported in nearby rocky hills.
He described the operation as a major breakthrough, noting that Riga and Gero had been key figures in banditry, providing shelter for criminals involved in frequent ambushes along the Funtua-Gusau Road, particularly between Yankara and Sheme villages.
Ali added that the NAF, in coordination with ground forces, remains committed to eliminating threats and dismantling terrorist strongholds in the region.
