BASL reads riot act to unruly passengers at airport

Bi-Courtney Aviation Services Limited (BASL), the operator of Murtala Muhammed Airport Terminal Two (MMA2), has reiterated its zero-tolerance policy against violence within the terminal premises.

This comes after another incident where an Aviation Security officer was physically assaulted by a male passenger on Sunday, April 20, 2025.

The altercation occurred during a disturbance at the check-in counter of one of the airlines operating from MMA2, reportedly due to a system error.

This  incident mirrors a similar occurrence in December 2024, where another staff member was assaulted while on duty.

BASL management condemned the acts and emphasizes that violence against any staff member or service provider at MMA2 will no longer be condoned.

The offending passenger has been handed over to the police for further investigation and necessary legal action while BASL vowed it would ensure a follow up on the case to ensure justice is served.

“We are deeply concerned by the recurrence of such attacks on our personnel and will not hesitate to take decisive action to protect all individuals who work at MMA2,” said Ajoke Yinka-Olawuyi, Head of Corporate Communications for BASL.

“All passengers and terminal users are expected to resolve grievances through lawful and respectful means. Our staff are here to assist and must be treated with dignity,” she said.

BASL, she says, remains committed to maintaining a safe, respectful, and secure environment for all terminal users, stressing that the company will continue working closely with the appropriate authorities to enforce its zero-tolerance stance on violence.

This stance, according to her, is in line with the company’s commitment to upholding the highest standards of safety, security, and customer service for all passengers and stakeholders.
