The ‘legendary’ FAAN/journalists synergy: A toast to partnership, passion and progress

Agbebire

On a crisp Friday afternoon 12 December 2025, the Public Affairs and Customer Relations department of the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) turned the glittering ballroom of Legend Hotel—nestled in the international wing of Murtala Mohammed International Airport, Lagos—into a celebration of collaboration. The occasion? A heartfelt thank‑you to the journalists who have walked the beat with FAAN throughout the year, sharing stories that lift the sector and, by extension, the nation.

The FAAN team was led with quiet authority by the Director of Public Affairs and Customers Relations, Mr Henry Agbebire, whose steady presence set the tone for the event. He was ably supported by General Manager Ijeoma Blessing Nwosuigbo and a cadre of senior managers, each a pillar of the Authority’s vision for a more open, efficient aviation landscape.

From the moment guests arrived, the atmosphere was a blend of French elegance and Nigerian warmth. Chandeliers cast a soft, amber glow over tables draped in crisp white linen, while the gentle hum of conversation rose like a well‑tuned orchestra.

The evening’s theme—“Synergy for a Better Sector”—was more than a slogan; it was the pulse that drove every toast, every shared laugh, and every thoughtful exchange.

The culinary experience was nothing short of a feast for the senses. The hotel’s kitchen, a hive of activity, served a sumptuous buffet that celebrated both local flavours and international favourites. From fragrant jollof rice and spicy suya bites to delicate coquilles Saint‑Jacques and buttery croissants, each dish was a reminder of the rich tapestry that defines Nigeria’s hospitality.

Guests moved from station to station, plates in hand, their smiles widening with each new flavour, their conversations growing louder as the noon deepened.

As the evening unfolded, emotions flowed as freely as the wine. Reporters and FAAN officials sat shoulder‑to‑shoulder, swapping stories of on‑the‑ground challenges and triumphs. Voices rose in animated discussion about how to tighten the partnership—more timely briefings, clearer channels for information, and joint initiatives that would shine a brighter light on the aviation sector.

The room buzzed with ideas, each one a seed for the collaborative future they all envisioned.

Adding a note of inspiration, the Chairman of the League of Airports and Aviation Correspondents (LAAC), Suleimon Idris Alooma, took the floor to reaffirm the league’s commitment to responsible, progressive, and developmental journalism. “Our work is the hallmark of the beat,” he declared, “and together with FAAN, we will continue to chart a course that elevates our skies and our stories.”

When the night finally drew to a close, hearts were full and spirits high. The evening had not only thanked the journalists for their relentless pursuit of truth but also forged new bonds that promise a brighter, more transparent future for Nigeria’s aviation industry.

As the lights dimmed and guests began to depart, the echo of laughter and the lingering aroma of exquisite cuisine lingered—an invisible reminder that when FAAN and the press work hand‑in‑hand, the whole nation soars.
