Lagos Speaker Meranda Denies Resignation Rumours
The Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Mojisola Meranda, has dismissed reports claiming she resigned from her position.
The Chief Press Secretary to the Speaker, Segun Ajiboye, debunked the rumour on Wednesday, February 19, following the circulation of an unsigned letter dated February 17, 2025, which alleged that the Speaker had stepped down.
Tension had risen in the Assembly over the claims, prompting lawmakers to pass a vote of confidence in Meranda. During a plenary session, 36 out of the 40 members affirmed their support for her leadership, rejecting any moves to reinstate former Speaker Mudashiru Obasa.
Ajiboye described the resignation claims as a lie from the pit of hell, insisting that Meranda remains in office and has no intention of stepping down.
