Tinubu Approves federal university for Osun

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has signed bills establishing two new federal universities, Federal University of Agriculture and Development Studies in Iragbiji, Osun State, and the Federal University of Technology and Environmental Sciences in Iyin Ekiti, Ekiti State.

This development comes as Nigeria currently hosts 63 federal universities, 63 state universities, and 149 private universities, according to the National Universities Commission (NUC).

Speaking in Abuja after assenting to the bills on Thursday, Tinubu stressed that these specialised institutions will address critical educational needs, train professionals in agriculture, science, and technology, and enhance Nigeria’s global competitiveness and economic growth.
“These institutions will serve as training grounds for professionals and drive research and innovation, strengthening our nation’s future,” he said.
