Mshelia extols Buhari, blames faults on trusted sycophants

Capt Mshelia

The Chairman of West Link Aviation, Capt Ibrahim Kadafir Mshelia, has paid a glowing tribute to the late former President Muhammadu Buhari noting he was an incorruptible man surrounded by hawks.

According to him, Buhari was an exceptional lover of Nigeria and good governance who sincerely served the country, but was often let down by insincere advisers.

As long term close ally of the Buhari family, Mshelia had unfettered opportunity to interact closely with the late president on several occasions.

He described Buhari as a man with lofty dreams for Nigeria, who wanted to bequeath a sane and egalitarian nation to its citizens.

However, Mshelia said that Buhari’s trusting nature was exploited by some of his lieutenants, who mismanaged his government.

“Those he trusted in office  and assigned roles as ministers and aides were his undoing. They betrayed the trust reposed in them and chose to mess up his government for selfish reasons,” he said

Despite this, Mshelia commended Buhari for his commitment to Nigeria’s development and his unwavering dedication to his principles.

He also praised the government of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for according the late president a befitting state burial, describing it as a testament to the healthy relationship between the two leaders.

Mshelia, who is also the proprietor of Mish Aviation, the first privately-owned flight school in Sub-Saharan Africa, noted that he had witnessed the close relationship between Buhari and Tinubu, and saw the same vision and focus that drove their union.

He urged President Tinubu to stay focused on his policies and ensure consistency and commitment to achieve a laudable turnout in the interest of Nigerians.

With focus, perseverance, and grit, Mshelia expressed confidence that Nigeria’s battered economy is on the path to revival.

However, he emphasised the need for consistency and a further uptick in commitment from co-travellers in the administration to achieve early arrival at the desired destination.
