The Centre for Anti-Corruption and Open Leadership (CACOL) has commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration for rolling out the groundbreaking “Nigeria First Policy”, a transformative move that prioritizes locally manufactured goods and services in all government procurements.
The anti-graft group sees the policy as a bold step towards reversing years of economic sabotage fueled by over-reliance on imported goods and services.
According to CACOL’s czar, Debo Adeniran, the policy is expected to have a positive impact on the economy by creating jobs, boosting industrial growth, conserving foreign exchange, enhancing national security, and fostering national pride.
The organization believes that the policy reflects a deep understanding that true economic sovereignty begins with supporting what Nigeria makes and growing what it eats.
CACOL therefore urged all stakeholders, including federal ministries, state governments, procurement officers, and private contractors, to fully embrace and implement the Nigeria First Policy in letter and spirit.
The organization also called on the National Assembly to enact complementary legislation that will provide legal backing for this directive, ensuring its sustainability beyond political cycles.
The CACOL chairman, Adeniran, expressed optimism that this policy will revitalize domestic industries and promote economic self-reliance.
“The policy is seen as a win for all Nigerians, and its successful implementation is expected to have a positive impact on the country’s economy.
” By prioritizing locally manufactured goods and services, the Tinubu-led administration has reignited hope for Nigerian manufacturers, farmers, artisans, and service providers.
” The policy is a step in the right direction towards promoting domestic production, supporting indigenous industries, and reducing dependence on foreign products,” Adeniran stressed.
