It will be recalled that on Saturday,, fully armed bandits were reported to ha e attempted to storm the community, driving in trucks along the Eruku‑Egbe road while firing sporadically.
The assault, which began around 11 a.m., saw the militants moving from the Eruku‑Egbe stretch toward Koro road, threatening residents and disrupting traffic.
Local hunters and community vigilantes were said to have swiftly mobilised, securing key routes from the seminary to Methodist High School and preventing the bandits from entering the town’s centre.
Their coordinated effort was said to ha e forced the attackers to retreat, effectively thwarting the invasion and restoring a sense of calm to the area.
Local hunters are said to have been on the trail of the invaders as the entire community has been thrown into mourning.
