The Federal Government has announced that Nigeria is on the final countdown to host its inaugural International Air Show, a three‑day showcase meant to highlight the nation’s expanding aviation and aerospace sector.
Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, told reporters during a final‑stage inspection in Abuja that “all aviation agencies and private‑sector partners have concluded arrangements ahead of the event.” He added that the show will feature a full programme of activities, including aerial displays by the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) on both the opening and closing days.
Keyamo pointed to the success of established air shows in the United Kingdom, France and the United Arab Emirates, noting that such events have “driven investment and global visibility for their aviation industries.” He said Nigeria is now ready to join the ranks of leading international aviation hubs.
While the air show will impose temporary airspace restrictions over Abuja during brief display periods, the minister assured that the measures are “solely to ensure safety.”
Brian Williams, Director of the Nigeria International Air Show, said the event has already sparked strong interest both locally and abroad. “Domestic and international airlines operating in Nigeria, alongside aircraft manufacturers and aviation service providers, are expected to attend, positioning the air show as a major hub for networking, partnerships and business deals,” Williams explained.
The three‑day event, set to begin next week, is expected to draw exhibitors and visitors from across the globe, offering a platform for Nigeria to demonstrate its growing capabilities in aviation, defense and aerospace technology.
