Ogun West professionals hail Yayi’s emergence as APC’s guber choice, declare victory

 Senator Yayi

The Ogun West Professionals for Yayi (OGWPY) has described the emergence of Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola, popularly known as Yayi, as the All Progressives Congress consensus candidate for the 2027 Ogun State governorship election as “a defining moment for unity, equity and progress,” declaring that the development has “firmly secured” the party’s pathway to victory.

In a statement issued Thursday and signed by its Chief Spokesman, Dr. Morakinyo Sola Oloyede, the group congratulated Senator Adeola on what it called a “historic emergence” announced by Governor Dapo Abiodun, noting that the decision marks “a watershed in the political evolution of Ogun State” and reflects “rare statesmanship, strategic foresight, and an uncommon commitment to party cohesion.”

OGWPY praised President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for providing “the overarching leadership climate that continues to inspire unity, discipline, and progressive alignment within the APC across the federation.”

It also thanked Governor Abiodun and former governors Chief Olusegun Osoba, Senator Gbenga Daniel, and Senator Ibikunle Amosun, saying their collective endorsement of Adeola “is not only invaluable but also emblematic of visionary leadership anchored on continuity, stability, and progress.”

The group singled out co-aspirants from Ogun West, Hon. Gboyega Nasir Isiaka and Hon. Abiodun Akinlade, for commendation, hailing their “maturity, patriotism, and magnanimity” in subordinating “personal ambition to collective aspiration.”

According to OGWPY, their sacrifice “has elevated the political culture of our state and strengthened the foundation for an inclusive victory in 2027.”

Further weight, the statement noted, has come from endorsements by former Commissioner for Health Senator Iyabo Obasanjo; former CBN Deputy Governor Mr. Tunde Lemo; and former House of Representatives member Hon. Kayode Amusan. These, OGWPY said, “reinforce the growing convergence of political strength and technocratic credibility” around Adeola’s candidacy.

For Ogun West, the group argued, the consensus carries historic equity. “In over five decades of the state’s existence, Ogun West Senatorial District has not produced a governor. This moment, therefore, represents not just political endorsement, but a long-awaited restoration of equity and justice.”

OGWPY linked the consensus to sustained advocacy, citing its Media Chat of February 1, 2026, in Ilaro which featured Senate Leader Opeyemi Bamidele.

That event, it said, “catalysed a new wave of political consciousness among professionals and technocrats,” with empirical indicators afterwards showing “a decisive public tilt” in Adeola’s favour, driven by his “track record in infrastructure delivery, human capital development, and empowerment initiatives across all 20 local government areas.”

The statement highlighted Adeola’s role as Chairman of the Senate Committee on Appropriations, saying it has already delivered “tangible developmental footprints – roads, healthcare facilities, and educational support schemes – impacting lives across Ogun State.

“These are not promises; they are verifiable outcomes,” it says

Describing the consensus as “a masterstroke,” OGWPY said it has “transformed potential rivalry into a binding covenant for progress” and set the stage for “early coordination, strategic campaigning, and electoral dominance.”

“Without equivocation, we state that with this development, the pathway to APC’s victory in the 2027 governorship election in Ogun State is not only clearer, it is firmly secured,” the group declared, reaffirming its commitment to “constructive engagement in the interest of Ogun State.”
