Maridon Palace Hotel, Ogun State is playing host to pro masses activists across Nigeria as Committee for the Defence of Human Rights (CDHR) is set to embark on a crucial discussion on the state of human rights in Nigeria.
Delegates from across the country are already converged on this serene venue for the organization’s Annual General Conference, AGC..

National President of CDHR, Comrade Debo Adeniran, has expressed satisfaction with the large turnout of members, commending their dedication to the struggle for human rights despite numerous challenges.
“I am delighted to see such a robust gathering of our members, who have braved the odds to be here today,” Adeniran said. “Your presence is a testament to our collective commitment to promoting human rights, democracy, and social justice in Nigeria.”
Adeniran highlighted CDHR’s pro-masses roles in the past, including grassroots activism, human rights education, and campaigns against abuses.
He cited the organization’s efforts to promote transparency and accountability in governance, as well as its advocacy for the rights of marginalized groups.
The conference, which is expected to kick off at 11:00 am, Saturday will provide a platform for stakeholders to engage in critical discussions, share experiences, and chart a way forward for promoting and protecting human rights in Nigeria.
Key issues on the agenda include the state of human rights in Nigeria, the role of civil society in promoting democracy, and strategies for enhancing access to justice for vulnerable groups.
Adeniran expressed optimism that the conference would lead to a more vibrant, more robust CDHR, better equipped to tackle the human rights challenges facing the country.
“I am confident that our deliberations will yield concrete outcomes that will strengthen our organization and enhance our impact on the ground,” he said.
The CDHR is a prominent Nigerian non-governmental organization (NGO) formed in 1989 to advocate for fundamental human rights, promote democracy, and provide legal aid for victims.
The group is known for its grassroots activism, human rights education, and campaigns against abuses, especially in Nigeria’s struggle for genuine democracy.
