Ijebuland on edge as youth front resists imposition of Awujale

The Ijebu Youth Solidarity Front (IYSF) has sounded the alarm, vowing to resist with all their might the alleged attempt to impose a candidate on the Awujale stool.

The group claims that some aspirants, having realized they are unlikely to win the selection process, are using state apparatus to smear opponents and undermine the process.

“We will not fold our arms and allow an arm-twist by any sinking aspirant to smear our revered culture,” said Olabanjo Shobiye, IYSF’s spokesman.

The group warns that Ijebu people are sophisticated and will not be railroaded into accepting a leader not chosen through due process.

The controversy surrounds Ademorin Kuye, a Lagos-based politician with alleged ties to Governor Dapo Abiodun. Critics question his loyalty to Ijebu Land, citing his long-standing involvement in Lagos politics.

“A man who has spent his career as a ‘Lagos boy’ cannot be forced upon us as spiritual head,” Shobiye lamented

The IYSF demands that tradition be respected and the selection process be allowed to proceed without interference.

“The Awujale stool belongs to the people, not a political strategy for a 2027 Senate seat,” the group emphasized.

The people of Ijebu Land are urged to stand firm and defend their tradition against alleged manipulation.
