The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) has attained the ISO 9001:2015 (Quality Management System) and ISO 14001:2015 (Environmental Management System) certifications, placing Nigeria’s airport authority among modern, competitive, and forward-looking airport organisations worldwide.
“This achievement marks a defining moment in Nigeria’s aviation sector,” said Mrs. Olubunmi Kuku, FAAN’s Managing Director/Chief Executive. “We have demonstrated our commitment to quality, environmental responsibility, and customer satisfaction.”
The certifications confirm FAAN’s operational and environmental management systems meet globally recognised standards, strengthening its credibility with international airlines, development partners, regulators, and the travelling public.
“FAAN’s achievement crowns a long and deliberate transformation within the Authority,” said an industry stakeholder. “It has moved decisively beyond reactive management to proactive, standards-driven governance.”
The ISO certifications promote standardised service delivery, reduced operational inconsistencies, and enhanced accountability, positioning Nigeria’s airports as viable hubs in the global aviation market.
With the certifications secured, aviation stakeholders expect FAAN to sustain and deepen these standards through continuous audits, skills development, environmental innovation, and customer-focused reforms.
