The Airport Police Command has intercepted a 14-year-old boy, Eke Miracle, attempting to stow away on a plane at Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA) in Lagos.
The minor was caught on the airport tarmac, trying to gain access beneath an aircraft, a serious breach of aviation security protocols.
According to authorities, Miracle had entered a restricted area without authorization, violating FAAN bylaws.
He was taken into custody and his parents were notified. The police ensured he received proper care and support throughout the process.
The Commissioner of Police, Airport Police Command, CP Ogunbode Olufunke, warned that due process would be followed, and urged parents to monitor their children around airports.
She said that the case will be handled in a juvenile court, stressing police’s commitment to safety and security while upholding individual rights.
Meanwhile, United Nigeria Airlines is facing its own set of challenges, with recent incidents including a jet blast at MMIA and a bird strike involving an Airbus A320 aircraft, disrupting flights and raising concerns about aviation safety in Nigeria.
